As part of the Los Angeles police department, the Eagle and Badge Foundation is a nonprofit organization that gives scholarships and benefits to current, fallen, or retired members of the LAPD and their families. Established in 2001, the organization uses grants as well as money given by volunteers and donors to fulfill its mission. Some of its accomplishments include funding the cost of two autism service dogs for the children of two LAPD officers and helping with the donation of physical therapy equipment for an LAPD detective’s wife.
One of the events that the Eagle and Badge Foundation hosts to raise money is its annual Oktoberfest. The 2016 event occurred on October 29 at the Elysian Park Police Academy and was cohosted by the Los Angeles Police Protective League and California Offset Printers. Guests enjoyed a variety of beverages, burgers, brats, and casino games.
