Founded in 2001 by the Los Angeles Police Protective League as a nonprofit organization, the Eagle and Badge Foundation provides benefits and scholarships to current, former, and fallen Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) members and their families who need financial help. In addition, the Foundation provides grant funding and financial support to community organizations such as the North Valley YMCA Boosters Club and Police Athletic League youth sports programs.
The Eagle and Badge Foundation also supports special projects. One is the End of Watch Memorial Wall. This traveling exhibit is 58 feet long and weighs more than 15,000 pounds. It shows the historical series of six badges used by the LAPD, with the names of LAPD officers fallen in the line of duty surrounding the badges. In 2015, the wall made its way to Venice Beach for the Fourth of July weekend, the LAPD West Valley open house, the LAPD Memorial Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament in Pasadena, and the Greek Theater.
